Thanks to everyone who took part last year in our first ever Sleep Walk and helped to make it the huge success it was!

Last year’s event...

2011 saw the first ever Sleep Walk and what a huge success it was!

  • 1800 ladies signed up in just 6 weeks to join Barbara The Sheep on this fantastic new night walk.
  • Over 300 on the waiting list, who were all desperate to join in!
  • Top national drinks brand Shloer were event sponsors; making sure the Sleep Walk was a sparkling affair!
  • Two unique venues made it a truly special night; the beautiful Occombe Farm and the atmospheric Kents Cavern.
  • A choice of five or ten mile routes ensured everyone could achieve their goal.
  • Over 1000 Barbara The Sheep ears were sold and donned on the night!
  • Over £2000 was raised in Sleep Walk merchandise alone.
  • Over 3000 cups of tea/ coffee were served on the night, supplemented by sweets, treats and of course, all important butties at the end!
  • A team of eight masseurs were on hand to rub those weary feet.
  • 55 porta-loos were placed along the route!

How did it go?

It was an amazing night! Full of laughter, memories, sore feet and most of all; fun! It was a very busy night, squished at times but everyone was up for a great time. Everyone’s input made it a night to remember!

What was good ?

A truly memorable night was had by all, but don’t just take our word for it, take a look at these Facebook comments from the day after…

“Wow! What a great night, really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one”

“Such an amazing night, loved going through Kents Cavern, loved the bacon butty at the end, loved the atmosphere”

“Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant! same time next year?”

What was bad?

We know it wasn’t perfect, but we always learn from our mistakes!

“Having nightmares about the hill still!”

“Don't think everyone should of started at the same time. The barn was rather packed.”

What was the reason for walking?

We know there are many reasons why so many Sleep Walkers take part; to walk in memory of a loved one, a personal challenge or just to have a great night out!

“For my mum – to help her achieve a new challenge… & Rowcroft worth it on both counts”

“In memory of my beautiful mum. You have your silver wings now.”

“To thank Rowcroft for all their wonderful hard work.”

How successful was it?

In one word: very!! The Sleep Walkers on the night pledged over £130,000. Since then over £170,000 has been received by Rowcroft Hospice and we hope to see this reach £180,000.  To put this into prespective; this amount will fund the care received by all the patients in the hospice’s 17 bedded inpatient unit for more than two weeks, an amazing outcome beyond our expectations!

Thank You! Total Pledged 28,360.72 pounds
